This project consisted of the extension of an existing house located on the western side of the Spanish island Formentera. The rustic landscape guided the design. A new annex is composed of two sections. There is a spacious, public living room and a kitchen separated by sliding panels. A more private section includes an office, a bedroom, and a bathroom.
The new construction is accessible through a deck, which is protected from the strong sunlight by an L-shaped canopy. The canopy is made of square steel tubing painted white to match the house.
Sliding panels can be custom sized and made of nearly any rigid material.
Add texture if a bathroom seems too cold or sterile. Use wood to create a more natural and inviting feeling, but don’t overdo it—doing so would interfere with a clean look.
